Cahaya Anggun (26), a mother in East Luwu Regency (Lutim), South Sulawesi (Sulsel) recently reported to the police that she and her daughter had been tortured and robbed by a public transport driver.
The report turned out to be a prank alias engineered by Anggun.
East Luwu Police Chief AKBP Indratmoko when asked for confirmation on Monday (10 August 2020) revealed that Anggun on Saturday (8 August ) then reported to the police and admitted that he had been robbed and abused by an inter-regional public transport driver in Malili District, East Luwu. The robbery incident was said to have occurred on Saturday (8 August) at around 01.30 pm.
“According to the victim’s confession, the driver of this car suddenly stopped on the shoulder of the road and took the victim’s cellphone and then beat the victim by hitting his right arm, lower lip, and scratching the victim,” said Indratmoko last Saturday (8 August).
However, after being investigated by the police, this case had many irregularities. When investigated further, the reporter finally admitted that he had fabricated the robbery.
“The results of the TKP were not synchronized with the victim’s testimony. The TKP was busy at the time of the incident, the witnesses were asked no one who saw the incident,” explained Indratmoko.
The police have gone deeper into the victim’s statement. However, the police have yet to reveal what motive the victim made up the report of the abuse to the police.
Now, the police are still examining the statement of the mother named Cahaya Anggun, aka the reporter.
Previously reported, the reporter who admitted that he was tortured and robbed had suffered a loss of millions of rupiah.
“After that, the reported took away his wallet and took IDR 8 million, 2 BRI ATM cards containing IDR 400 thousand and 2 KIS cards,” said Indratmoko.
