The Field Manager of the Padjadjaran University (Unpad) Research Team, Eddy Fadlyana, said at least 1,020 volunteers have registered to participate in phase three clinical trial of the Covid-19 vaccine in Bandung.
“There are 1,020 people,” said Eddy through an electronic message, on Monday, Agust 10 2020.
Among the thousands of volunteers, one of the names that confirmed to participate is West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil.
It is known that the third phase of the Covid-19 vaccine clinical trial will be carried out in six locations, ie on the Unpad Teaching Hospital, Unpad Health Center, and four health centers in Bandung. The clinical trial was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.
Especially for the location at the Unpad Teaching Hospital on Eyckman street, the schedule was accelerated because President Joko Widodo was scheduled to review the implementation of the vaccine clinical trial.
The schedule for the examination and swab test was moved forward one day to 10 August 2020. The registration for clinical trial volunteers for the vaccine produced by Sinovac, China, is still open until August 31, 2020. Implementation of the vaccine clinical trial in Bandung requires approximately 1,620 volunteers with an age range between 18 and 59 years.
On the first day of clinical trials, a maximum of 20-25 people was conducted per day at each testing location. This was done to fulfill the awareness aspect of the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the first arrival, volunteers or research subjects will be examined to determine whether or not they are included in the clinical trial sample.
After being declared fit, the subject was injected. Subsequently, two weeks after the first injection, the subject was re-administered the second injection. After that, the subject will be monitored for the next six months.
