Bengkalis Deputy Regent Muhammad’s flight ended.
The suspect in the alleged corruption case is said to be slippery in his flight because he often moves cities.
Muhammad is a suspect in a case of alleged corruption in the water pipe project in Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) Regency in 2013 worth IDR 3.8 billion.
At that time, Muhammad was the Head of the Public Works Department of Riau Province’s Human Settlements Division.
The police had summoned the person concerned for questioning in February 2020.
However, Muhammad was twice absent. The police then checked the whereabouts of Muhammad and suspected that he had fled.
The police also put Muhammad on the wanted list (DPO).
When he was fugitive, Muhammad had the status of Acting Regent of Bengkalis because Regent Amril Mukminin was detained by the KPK.
Riau Governor Syamsuar then issued a new decree after Muhammad became a fugitive.
Syamsuar appointed the Bengkalis Regional Secretary, Bustamai, as Acting Regent of Bengkalis in March 2020.
Although brief, Muhammad managed to control the Bengkalis government from the location of his escape.
Police said Muhammad often moved from one hotel to another and from one city to another.
