The brutal action of the silat school masses in Situbondo damaged dozens of houses, cars, and residents’ businesses.
Even the village office and petrol kiosk were also targeted.
Not only that, but five residents were also injured and received treatment at the hospital.
The perpetrator carried out his action on Monday (10 August 2020) because of the commotion over the red and white flag between the masses and local residents.
At that time, the masses had attended the increase in the level of silat college.
When passing through two villages, one of the masses pulled out the red and white flag in front of the residents’ houses.
Residents who saw one of the silat college members remove the flag then reprimanded him.
There was an argument.
Apparently, this action triggered the crowd to come in more and damaged people’s houses early Monday.
The residents felt a tense atmosphere during the vandalism.
Not only the screams and the roar of the engine and gas but hundreds of motorbikes were also played from the main road.
The atmosphere got tense when residents heard many people as if they were going berserk in front of their house.
They threw stones and hit wood against the glasshouses of residents and whatever items were nearby.
Hearing that, most residents who were initially sleeping soundly suddenly woke up and became frightened.
Therefore, the residents chose to stay and hide in the house.
This brutal action angered the Regent of Situbondo H Dadang Wigiarto.
He immediately reviewed the location.
The Regent of Dadang was quite angry that he called the vandalism an act of shame.
The East Java Regional Police also deployed a number of Brimob teams and investigators from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum).
