A businessman was shot to death in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta yesterday.
According to reports, 51-year-old S was killed when an unidentified shooter gunned him down in front of shophouses at Royal Gading Square. Two alleged culprits still on the run from the police.
Police say four shell casings were found at the scene, consistent with the number of gunshot wounds on S, one of which was located on the back of his head.
Known, that the victim was heading home to have lunch. It so happens his office and home isn’t far, so the victim was walking home. Then, someone came up from behind him and shot him four times. And S died immediately at the scene.
Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Yusri Yunus told reporters, “Witnesses says the shooter immediately left the scene with an accomplice, who was waiting on a motorcycle. And the police are still carrying out an investigation into the incident and have yet to determine the identities of the culprits and their motives.”
Gun-related crimes are rare in Indonesia, owing to the country’s strict gun control laws. However, there have been occasional gun-related crimes involving smuggled or improvised firearms.
As information, firearm licenses are only given out to members of the police and military, and even then they are only allowed to fire the guns in the line of duty.
