Starting August 1, 2020, the federal government of Malaysia will enforce mandatory use of face masks throughout the country.

This is in accordance with the Law on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, in an effort to curb the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.

Those found violating the law will be slapped with a fine of RM1,000.

Even though it may be a necessary action keep in mind the fact that not everyone can afford a lot of masks.

As was the case of a boy, who was found to have reused a tattered face mask.

The mask even seemed to have repeated itself.

It appears at the point where the ear knot of the face mask has been sewn back.

This story was shared via social media by netizen fazri_hassan, who is also the student’s teacher.

In the photo that accompanies his Tweet, Hassan shows how his students’ face masks have become covered with dust.

While the ends of the loop ears are tied in place after starting to come out of the loop.

When she asked her other students, she found out that some of them had been wearing disposable masks for 2 to 3 days.

To mStar, Mr. Hassan revealed that the student he was talking about was a student with special needs in Grade Six.

To help ease the burden on their family who may not be able to afford disposable face masks, Hassan then decided to buy a new box of face masks for him.

The Twitter post has since attracted a lot of attention among Malaysian netizens.

Many point to the problems faced by the poor who can’t afford new face masks all the time.
