The booming climber incident was confirmed by the Chairman of the Giri Lawu Association (PGL) Miko Wicaksono.
“It is true that the video was taken at the entrance to Cemoro Sewu this morning. The video is from a friend’s upload at the basecamp,” he said, Sunday (16/8/2020).
Miko reported that until now the condition in the area was still busy with visitors.
Meanwhile, the registration hour which was opened since 08.00 this morning was closed at 17.00 WIB.
“We are still at the Cemoro Sewu basecamp, the conditions are full of visitors, joint volunteers are on standby to be on guard if there is something urgent,” he added.
Asked about the crowd of climbers who did not keep their distance, Miko gave an explanation.
Miko admitted that his party was overwhelmed with managing the booming climbers.
Whereas previously PGL had given advice and socialized health protocols through social media.
“Health protocol rules, requirements for increases and so on, from Perhutani and we have been socialized”

Miko also informed that the quota of 800 climbers today is full.
Finally, he asked the climbers to apply and obey the existing health protocols while climbing Mount Lawu.
