Relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are now getting closer after signing the diplomatic agreement.
In fact, the two of them are working together to develop a Corona test kit.
US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that diplomatic relations between the two countries were part of a deal to end annexation.
Annexation of the West Bank, is the area that Palestinians hope will become the territory of their future state.
The UAE has called its controversial decision a way of pushing for peace efforts and scrapping Israel’s annexation plans.
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quick to deny, insisting that the annexation hiatus was only “temporary.”
Following the agreement, Israel and the UAE formalized telephone services between the two countries, following an agreement to normalize relations last week.
As reported by the BBC, Monday (17 August 2020) Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and his colleague from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, had a telephone conversation.
No such direct telephone service before.
According to the Israeli Ministry of Telecommunications, phone providers in the UAE will no longer block Israeli code numbers +972.
In addition, UAE and Israeli companies signed an agreement to jointly develop research and studies related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
One of the two parties’ collaborations focuses on developing the Corona test kit.
As reported by AFP on Monday (17 August 2020), the business deal between the UAE and Israel was announced days after the two revealed a shocking peace agreement.
In the peace agreement that is mediated by the United States (US), the UAE and Israel agreed to normalize diplomatic relations.
