South Korea (South Korea) and the United States (US) are holding back joint annual military exercises after being delayed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The joint military exercise, which began Tuesday (18 August) local time, has the potential to provoke the anger of North Korea (North Korea).
As reported by AFP, Tuesday (18 August 2020), this military exercise was held when tensions between South Korea and North Korea were rising.
North Korea previously blew up its inter-Korean liaison office in June and threatened to take military steps.
North Korea is known to have always reacted strongly to any joint military exercises held by South Korea and the US.
This communist regime has always considered joint military exercises as exercises for the two countries to invade North Korea.
In a statement, the US Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that the military exercise, the Joint Command Post Exercise, will be held from Tuesday (18 August) local time until August 28.
It states that this joint exercise “focuses on maintaining the defense posture” of the two countries.
