The COVID-19 pandemic gives a bad impact on economic sectors, especially in the tourism industry. The tourism industry has been massively affected by the spread of coronavirus, as many countries have introduced travel restrictions in an attempt to contain its spread.

It has a significant impact due to the resulting travel restrictions as well as a slump in demand among travelers. Taking a snapshot of tourism losses is difficult, as the data changes as quickly as the virus spreads. If the pandemic continues for several more months, the World Travel and Tourism Council, the trade group representing major global travel companies, projects a global loss of 75 million jobs and $2.1 trillion in revenue.

And the impact of coronavirus also occurred by the Bali government. As the most popular holiday islands around the world, now they are struggling to reopen for tourism amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Before the Bali provincial governments had announced their readiness to open on September 11, 2020, but the central government has yet to be supportive of the plan, and it will face a major setback earlier this week.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan stated that Bali could remain closed for the rest of the year due to increasing cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia.

So, travelers should be eagerly waiting for Bali to reopen.

But Bali isn’t the only island that has major setbacks in their pursuit to reopen for tourism. Other top island destinations around the world are in the same boat as they try to contain the virus.

Here some island that should extend their reopening date :

  1. Hawaii
Hawaii has already extended their reopening date by one month from August 1st until September 1st after an increase in cases in the U.S.
  2. The island of Oahu
Oahu threatens to derail plans to reopen international tourism after the patients of coronavirus was an increase day by day.
  3. The Bahamas
The Bahamas reopened for international tourism in July but immediately has a surge in COVID-19 cases. It makes they reacted by banning American tourists but then reversed the decision in favor of a blanket 14-day quarantine upon arrival for all travelers.
  4. The Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands delayed their reopening an additional month after a surge in COVID-19 cases in the U.S.
  5. Bali
Bali delayed their reopening, but in Bali’s case, there is no clear end in sight to the travel ban.

Until now, the Indonesian government has given no indication or a date, when Bali can reopen their borders.
