An 87 year old grandfather suffered a broken bone.
After his rapid reactive test results in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, he was neglected for eight hours.
The grandfather with the initials NM initially fell in his house and sprained his thigh.
He was then taken to Santa Anna Hospital on Thursday (20 August) morning.
At the hospital, NM was examined and underwent a rapid test.
NM was also advised to undergo surgery due to the fall incident, but the hospital did not have bone surgery facilities.
After the results of NM’s rapid test came out and showed that they were reactive, the hospital asked the family to bring NM to Kendari Hospital or Bahteramas Hospital.
One of NM’s families, Irfan said that Santa Anna Hospital refused to treat patients because they were not a Covid-19 referral hospital.
In addition, it was mentioned that the hospital room was full.
However, Santa Anna Hospital also refused to use their ambulance to take NM to the Kendari City Hospital, which was chosen by the family.
“We were even directed to get on a pick-up car,” said Irfan to reporters.
The absence of a car made NM forced to lie in the terrace ward of the Santa Anna Hospital Emergency Room for seven hours.
Until one of the ambulances passed and was willing to deliver after being stopped on the road by the family.
However, upon arriving at the Kendari City Hospital, NM also did not immediately receive medical treatment.
Until he was stranded in the ambulance for an hour.
Finally, NM was evacuated to the Covid-19 Emergency Room at 16 WITA.
After a number of journalists contacted the Managing Director of the Kendari City Hospital, Sukirman.
When contacted by CNNIndonesia.com, Sukirman denied that the patient was abandoned on the grounds that the Covid-19 patient care room was full.
Moreover, he said, NM could not get up because of a broken bone.
Sukirman said that when NM was diswab, he immediately contacted his colleague at the Bahteramas Kendari Hospital so that the patient sample was immediately examined.
“And the results were negative for Covid-19. The results were out earlier,” he said.
According to Sukirman, the current problem is how to deal with the grandfather, whose condition is broken.
Because, it took a long time to do the operation, because the old kakeh was over, so it was risky.
