The Israeli government and intelligence agencies reported their concern about Saudi Arabia’s uranium ore processing program for nuclear power.
In this project, Saudi Arabia is working with China and Jordan.
Official sources in Israel fear the Saudi nuclear program will damage the two countries’ unofficial relations.
Moreover, at this time Israel is actively persuading countries in the Middle East to normalize relations.
In addition, Israel is worried that the Saudi nuclear program will trigger countries in the Gulf region to do the same.
Israel’s concern arises because the Saudis prefer to partner with China, which is considered an ally of Iran, to run the program rather than the US.
The Saudis are building a facility to process uranium into nuclear raw materials, yellow cake or urania, near the city of Al Ula.
The location is in the middle of the desert.
Israel is concerned that the Saudi facility will be used to develop nuclear weapons.
Moreover, two years ago the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, once said that they would take the same steps if Iran developed a nuclear bomb.
On the other hand, Saudi Arabia stated that it would not normalize relations with Israel until a peace agreement with Palestine was signed.
On the other hand, the Chinese government stated that US and Israeli concerns about the misappropriation of the Saudi nuclear program were unfounded because they guaranteed the program was carried out for peaceful purposes.
