China’s state-run television network broadcasts the Tianlei 500, or Lightning 500, image.
It is a high-precision bomb because it hovers under satellite technology.
This type of bomb has deadly explosive bomb droplets in it.
It also resembled an American bomb designed to attack an enemy airbase or convoy of armored vehicles.
It is believed that the Tianlei 500 program was aimed at Taiwan, which had just signed a contract agreement to buy 66 new F-16V fighters from the United States.
The message Beijing sent was deemed clear, the purchase would be meaningless.
The South China Morning Post reports that the Tianlei 500 also has a laser-guided sensor.
The bomb’s range depends on the flying height of the aircraft that released it.
However, it is estimated that the existing wings can fly up to 37 miles or 60 kilometers towards its target.
Weighing 500 kilograms, the Tianlei 500 is capable of carrying 240 smaller bombs the size of a tennis ball inside.
In fact, the bombs can spread to cover an area of 6,000 square meters once released.
That design allows the Tianlei 500 to be able to damage a wider area than the use of a single missile warhead.
