Sometimes, when a country hit by a strong earthquake it’s not become a nightmare for everyone, because the fishermen in the Philippines succeed to catch a humongous fish that might be potentially profitable for them after a strong earthquake hits their country.
And of course, to catch a humongous fish, they can not do that every day. The story of a fisherman who caught a deep-sea giant fish in Oras, Eastern Samar went viral.
As quoted News24xx.com from to the Philippines News Agency, this happened, hours after the strong quake that rattled the central Philippines on Tuesday.
From the information of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the giant fish was caught shortly after a magnitude 6.6 tectonic quake struck Cataingan town.
The director of BFAR, Juan Albaladejo said there was a big possibility that earthquake shockwaves that spooked the fish. And it causing the fish to surface in shallow waters in Tubabao Island in Oras town.
The fisherman named Armando Amos from the Sta. Monica village reportedly caught the fish weighed a whopping 65 kilos. Compared to the fish caught in the Philippines this one weighed three times more. The giant fish is known as a moonfish. And it is a deep-water species found 500 meters deep into the sea.
Known, Amos caught the giant fish through hook and line. The scientific name of the fish is Lampris guttatus and it is a warm-blooded fish. And it’s known to be a high-performance predator that swims faster and sees better.
Amos said during an interview, “Although we know that we have quite abundant fish in our eastern seaboard, but it’s rarely seen.” Amos said in an interview.
He said that the fishermen sold the fish at the local market at IDR 310 thousand per kg.
