After eight months as the world struggling with coronavirus, many pharmacies company makes various vaccines with different phases
One vaccine has been developed by researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Researchers targets to make a vaccine that can be delivered through the nose.
Using mice, the vaccine has proven effective in preventing infection insusceptible to the virus.
The study published in the journal Cell wrote that vaccines can be delivered in one dose via the nose.
Senior author Michael S Diamond, MD, Ph.D., the Herbert S Gasser, Professor of Medicine and a professor of molecular microbiology, and of pathology and immunology reportedly revealed that they were surprised with the vaccines.
“We were happily surprised to see a strong immune response in the cells of the inner lining of the nose and upper airway and also the profound protection from infection with this virus.”
As cited from the India Times, the researchers found that the vaccine was more effective in preventing the infection, as it was particularly effective in generating an immune response in the nose and respiratory tract.
“It can be taking the infection over the body because it inserting a spike protein.”
The vaccine – called an adenovirus – are the basis for many investigational vaccines for Covid-19 and other infectious diseases, such as Ebola virus and tuberculosis.
The next plan that makes by investigators is to test the vaccine in non-human primates and humans to see if it is safe and effective in preventing Covid-19 infection.
