A 16-year-old who played Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) game committed suicide in Lahore on August 23.
According to local media, the family reported to the police that the teenager took his life after being banned from playing video games online.
It is unclear how the boy took his life.
Whereas previously on June 1, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had banned PUBG due to several complaints regarding the game.
Such as the effects of games that make people addicted, waste time and have the potential to damage the physical and psychological health of children.
However, after meeting with company representatives in July, the PTA decided to lift the PUBG ban.
This is not the first time the game has been the subject of controversy.
Jonty Joseph, a 20-year-old resident living in the Saddar Bazaar area in the North Canton of Lahore, also committed suicide for the same reason.
He took his own life by hanging from a fan in his room.
In a similar incident, an 18-year-old boy on Ghazi Street in Lahore also committed suicide after his family banned him from playing in June.
However, the craze for video games is not limited to Pakistan.
Earlier this month, a 16-year-old boy in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh died of dehydration after playing PUBG.
The boy played continuously for days without eating and drinking enough.
