American Airlines on Monday said it would spray the interiors of its aircraft with a durable product specially designed to prevent the coronavirus.
This was done in order to try to attract passengers to fly back.
The Texas-based operator said in a statement that the product was named SurfaceWise2.
“In the coming months, America will start using SurfaceWise2 for electrostatic spraying on surfaces inside aircraft.
With plans to use the product throughout its fleet, including those in regional partner American Eagle, “the operator said.
The United States has seen a decline in air travel since the coronavirus pandemic struck in mid-March.
Airlines are trying to encourage people to fly again by announcing an improved cleaning regime.
