The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has raised its voice regarding the presence of Indonesian citizens (WNI) who are suspected of being the suicide bombers of Jolo, Philippines.
The Foreign Ministry said the Philippine authorities were carrying out an investigation to confirm the identity of the perpetrator.
“The Philippine authorities are conducting an investigation to confirm the identity of the perpetrators,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah via text message, Tuesday (25 August 2020).
Faizasyah also revealed that no Indonesian citizen was the victim of the bombing incident.
Furthermore, Faizasyah said the Indonesian representatives in the Philippines would continue to monitor the progress of the case.
He said the Indonesian representatives would also communicate intensively with the Philippines.
There have been two previous explosions in Jolo, Philippines, on Monday, 24 August 2020.
The explosion occurred at around 11:45 p.m. local time in the Philippines.
An Indonesian woman (WNI) is also suspected of being behind the twin bomb blasts that rocked the Philippines.
