Local state media reported that nearly 500 people in Baoyi, China had fever and diarrhea since last weekend.
Quoted from AFP, there were reportedly 300 residents being treated at the local hospital.
Most of the patients are elderly and children.
According to reports, the bacteria are shigella bacteria.

If the bacteria are accidentally consumed, there is a risk of causing dysentery.
