India has recorded the highest daily increase in coronavirus cases in the world.
The country with the third highest accumulative cases in the world on Sunday (August 30) reported 78,761 new cases in 24 hours.
This figure has exceeded the daily record set by the United States on 17 July.
The increase in the number of cases in India occurred along with a number of policy easing by the government in an effort to improve the economy.
As well as lives, millions of people in India have lost their jobs since the coronavirus outbreak hit in March.
India’s daily increase on Sunday (August 31) surpassed the daily figure of 77,299 the United States reported on July 17.
