Wildlife rangers in the Top End managed to catch a 4.4 meter long, 350 kilograms saltwater crocodile in an area frequented by tourists.
Local rangers said the 4.4-meter crocodile was the largest trapped in the Flora River in five years.
The large male crocodile is trapped in Flora River Nature Park, about 120 kilometers southwest of Katherine.
Last week, local rangers also arrested a male, 3.3-meter saltwater crocodile in the Katherine River, about 55 kilometers downstream of Katherine.
Now the giant crocodile has been brought to the crocodile farm and will be used as captive supplies.
It is known that the Katherine region has experienced consecutive monsoons with below-average rainfall, and the lack of rainfall is starting to affect crocodile movements.
In the past 3 years, Katherine’s wildlife keepers have removed 23 crocodiles from the Katherine River management zone.
