The thieves gang acted at one of the houses of a resident of Tembilahan Village who is also an employee of the Indragiri Hilir District Government Public Relations.
The perpetrators poked out the bedroom window and managed to steal 3 cellphones.
Chief of Indragiri Hilir Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police Dian Setyawan, through the Head of Subdivision of Public Relations, Adjunct Police Commissioner, Warno, said the perpetrator with the initials FZ (21 years) and two colleagues FI (16 years) and AD (20 years) acted at the victim’s house, Agus Riau Nita.
“They managed to steal 3 units of cellphones. During the action, the perpetrators pulled out the bedroom window while the owner of the house was in a deep sleep,” said Adjunct Police Commissioner Warno.
Wednesday, September 2 2020 at around 02:00 WIB, the house owner woke up to turn off the fan.
“After turning off the fan, the reporter saw that one of the windows in his room was open and it was no longer locked, and there arose the reporter’s suspicion.
The reporters were told by their children to check their cellphones, “said Adjunct Police Commissioner Warno.
Sure enough, after looking for it, it turned out that 3 (three) cellphone units belonging to the reporter were not found, aka missing, which was originally located on the floor in the bedroom.
“The victim immediately reported to the police. Based on this report, the Optional Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit together with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tembilahan City Police immediately investigated the whereabouts of the perpetrator. From the results of the investigation it was found that one of the perpetrators, FZ, was in Sungai Luar Village,” he said.
At 10:00 WIB, the team managed to secure FZ on the getek bridge. After being interrogated, FZ admitted his actions and it was discovered that FZ had committed theft together with FI and AD.
“Furthermore, around 13.30 WIB an arrest was made against FI on Jalan M Boya and not long after the team also succeeded in securing 1 other perpetrator, namely the Army on Jalan Lingkar 1 Tembilahan,” explained Adjunct Police Commissioner Warno.
Of the three perpetrators, the police also managed to secure 3 units of cellphones which were stolen as evidence.
As a result of their actions, the perpetrators were charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code on Theft with Imposition with a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison.
Also, the Indragiri Hilir Police Chief advised the people of the Indragiri Hilir Regency to remain vigilant against all criminal acts that could occur at any time.
“Stay alert wherever you are, be it in markets, offices, and other crowded places. Make sure the house is safe before resting or sleeping, be it doors, windows, gas stoves, and components related to electricity,” he ordered.
