Apple’s iPhone 12 series will likely launch in October. However, we have more leaks and rumors that are quickly revealing what the major devices and add-ons will be looking for. Since there are four iPhone 12 versions, it is only the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max that will add mmWave 5G support.
iPhone 12 Pro Max only has the space to incorporate m5W technology
A new report from Fast Company has revealed that only iPhone 12 Pro Max has the necessary internal space to support mmWave 5G technology. Additionally, the larger battery size will support this as the technology is likely to consume more power.
In addition to the technology exclusively available for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, it will only be available in the US, Korea, and Japan. US Verizon is the only operator in India investing heavily in deploying 5G and T-Mobile is running on 6GHz. The latter will provide a 20 percent increase in data speed. Gigabit speeds will only be possible at mmWave frequencies. Note that millimeter-wave frequencies cannot penetrate walls, which reduces their effectiveness.
The source also indicates that Apple will likely release a 4G version of the iPhone 12 next year as an update to the current iPhone SE. As was previously noted through the post that Apple will be using a LiDAR scanner on the iPhone 12 Pro as well as the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Recently, it was leaked that only the back glass of the iPhone 12 Pro Max had a hole in the LiDAR scanner.
5G technology is still very young and is gradually working to be the standard in many markets. While the last word remains with the company, we can only speculate on the point the device will make.
