Tragic, a female journalist was shot at her home in southwest Pakistan.
The woman named Shaheena Shaheen, work as a talk show host at state-owned broadcaster Pakistan Television and also an editor of a local magazine. She was shot dead at her home in Turbat on Saturday evening.
And now, the police have launched a hunt for the killer.
But from an investigation, an official said that the husband of that female journalist being one of the suspects.
As cited News24xx.com from TOI, Siraj Ahmad, the investigating officer on the case from Turbat district of Balochistan, said that they have registered the case.
“Now, we have started a search for the killer of the female journalist. But, the Shaheen’s family suspected her husband of the murder,” he told on Sunday.
Ahmad said told that about six months ago, Shaheen had a court marriage. And after that, she was living with her husband.
According to the police report, Shaheen was dropped off at a hospital in critical condition by two men. Then, they decided to left her when the doctors tried to save her life. And one of those men was the Shaheen’s husband, Nawabzada Mahrab.
As information, Pakistan is one of the most dangerous countries for journalists. Pakistan ranked 145th out of 180 countries in its 2020 World Press Freedom Index.
And from data of the Comittee to Protect Journalists and rights group Reporters Without Border, since 1992, at least 61 Pakistani journalists have been killed in connection with their work.
