A sheep named Double Diamond has sold for the world’s highest price of USD 490,000 at an auction in Scotland.
That price is equivalent to the equivalent of IDR 7 billion.
According to a news release from the Texel Sheep Society, the sheep sparked quite a stir before the auction began at the Scottish National Texel in Lanark.
This auction bid starts from around USD 13,000.
However, this price continues until an agreement is reached.
This event is a tradition and has even become a livestock business.
Reporting from the Texel Sheep Society, this Texel sheep originates from the Netherlands and is a favorite lamb for butchers.
“It’s like any other business, horse racing or livestock business, every now and then something special comes along and yesterday a special texel appeared, everyone even wanted it,” said Jeff Aiken, one of the auction winners to The Guardian.
The previous record in 2009, a sheep had a price of 230,000 pounds or more than USD 307,000 or the equivalent of IDR 4.4 billion.
