The company announced that its live karaoke game is close to Twitch Singing. The company says it decided to discontinue the game effective January 1, 2021 “to help invest inefficient equipment and services that will help support and grow the entire music community on Twitch.”
Twitch sings in April 2019, and lets players choose a song from their library to perform. Singers can choose or get friends to join the duo. The channel feels that it has not attracted a large audience; While Twitch has over 3 million followers in the total music category, Twitch sings, which is only 161,000 followers.
The company announced: “Looking to the future, we are excited to share more about the future of music on Twitch and are working on making Twitch the best place to love artists and music,” after a closed comment.
Amazon-owned streaming platform said it is releasing 400 new songs accumulated so fans can tap the microphone for one last goose song before shutting things down for good.
The Twitch music category has been increasing since the emergence of the Coronavirus pandemic. While music is still a minor category for Twitch overall, in July, nearly 17.6 million hours were broadcast.
Twitch Sing will start deleting videos and clips by December 1st, and by January 1st, remaining videos on demand will also be removed, including previous broadcasts, clips, and featured clips. To archive and stream your past songs on Twitch, see the instructions in the Twitch’s video-on-demand section. If you have clips from your channel, you can find more information to manage them here.
