A glamorous Russian model drowned in waters near NATO’s main military base in Sardinia, Italy, last weekend.
Italian police launched an investigation into the model’s death, including alleged espionage that didn’t work out.
Italian police have interrogated a British photographer who was involved in a photoshoot with a model named Galina Fedorova, 35, this.
The photographer named Yev Taranovs was swimming with Fedorova when their chartered inflatable boat lost anchor.
The two of them were then stranded in the waters behind the swift currents.
Initial reports said Fedorova wanted to cool off after a photo session with the photographer.
According to Taranovs, they tried to swim to the ship, but the distance was too far.
He too lost Fedorova.
Moments later, he saw a ship and shouted at the sailors, who saved him.
Then an operation to search for Fedorova was launched.
“Investigations are continuing, and according to very early reports, the young woman drowned,” the deputy prosecutor, Enrico Lussu, based in Cagliari, told the AFP news agency quoted Friday (11 September 2020).
Lussu added that after Fedorova’s body was found, the police also confiscated the contents of the boat, including cameras, cell phones, computers, and drones.
Rome-based newspaper Corriere Della Sera reported the drone or drone had alarmed police and prompted prosecutors to take a closer look at the case.
The reason is that Fedorova sank near one of NATO’s largest military bases in Italy.
