As reported by Tribun News, Muhammad Imron, 18, killed his friend, Redi Setyo, 20, at a workshop on Jalan Letjen S Parman, Malang City, East Java, last September 3.
Malang City Police Chief, Leonardus Simarmatra, said the motive for the incident was revenge.
The suspect was angry with his friend for always making fun of him for playing video games.
The murder occurred because of his anger at the words the victim said so that he decided to kill his own friend.
According to the police chief, the murder occurred when the victim was playing with his cellphone.
The suspect hit the back of the victim’s head with a hammer twice.
The suspect also managed to hit the victim’s right shoulder and chest.
After killing his friend, the suspect who worked as a cleaner at the workshop escaped from the scene by public transportation.
He fled back to his village in Janung and hid in a nearby rice field.
However, he was arrested by local authorities 36 hours after police found the victim’s body.
