The Chinese vaccine, made by Sinovac Biotech, will begin clinical trials of the Corona virus (COVID-19) vaccine in children and adolescents later this month.
This expands testing for experimental vaccines that are already in their final stages for trials in adults.
As reported by Reuters on Thursday (17 September 2020), the discovery of a vaccine that works for the entire population, including younger people, is of vital importance to prevent the Corona outbreak in schools and kindergartens, which also has the potential to attack teachers and parents.
A total of 552 healthy participants between the ages of 3 and 17 will be injected with two doses of CoronaVac, the Corona vaccine made by Sinovac.
According to registration records on Wednesday (September 16) local time, trials on children and adolescents will begin on September 28 in Hebei Province, northern China. Sinovac spokesman confirmed that this test has been approved by Chinese regulators.
As part of the program, CoronaVac has been given to around 90 percent of the company’s employees and their families. This vaccine is also being tested on a large scale in its final phase in Brazil, Indonesia and Turkey.
