Some photos and videos of the natural phenomena in Singapore went viral on social media after a colorful halo appeared in the sky yesterday, Sept. 22, 2020.
It makes Singaporeans were in awe and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also shared several photos by Gardens by The Bay on his Instagram.
He wrote, “A stunning rainbow ring was captured at @gardensbythebay at midday today!”
As cited News24xx.com from the EarthSky, the optical phenomenon is called a 22-degree halo.
This phenomena is a large ring or circle of light that is seen around the sun or moon.
Halos are formed when thin cirrus clouds drifting 20,000 feet in the sky refract light from the sun.
It makes the thin clouds are so high in the sky that they are made of ice crystals rather than water droplets.
