Eight Sleep is at it again! After creating the only smart mattress in a box, ‘The Pod’, their smart, temperature regulating mattress, they have just released the re-engineered and re-designed ‘Pod Pro’. Both mattresses feature an active grid on the top layer that can either cool or heat the mattress at the control of your fingertips with the Eight Sleep App. Additionally, with advanced sleep tracking that measures your sleep stages, sleep time, toss and turns, heart rate, and even heart rate variability (HRV), these mattresses really are a gadget-lover’s great night sleep!
Over the years, Eight has gone through many iterations of their mattresses and value proposition to sleepers. With their first product being a smart sleep tracker, they moved into the mattress space later on with all-foam mattresses with their smart tracking technology built in. In their most recent iteration, they have launched a truly remarkable mattress and tech symbiosis, The Pod and The Pod Pro, which adjusts temperature dynamically, promises to lead to deeper sleep. Their mattresses include recently upgraded features such as Heart Rate Variability (HRV) tracking and Wake Up, which allows sleepers to set a specific temperature they would like their thermo alarm to wake them up with for any day of the week.
Eight offers two different mattresses — The Pod and The Pod Pro. Both of these feature high quality, all-foam designs with amazing technological enhancements. We’ll go through each of these options below.
Layer 1: The first layer is a premium knit cover that is soft and breathable, helping keep things cool and comfy.
Layer 2: The first comfort layer is Eight’s revolutionary Active Grid that is designed to regulate temperature, relieve pressure, and track biometrics through the Eight Sleep App. This layer will adjust the temperature dynamically to keep you in the perfect temperature. Also, it comes with features like sleep tracking and thermo alarm, which wakes you up by subtly cooling/warming the mattress.
Layer 3: Four layers of high density foams helps to give this mattress an overall profile of 11”. The foams are arranged from softer on the surface to firmer on the bottom and provide a medium firm, universal comfort that is just right for most average sized back and side sleepers.
Side Hub: Along the side of the mattress is the ‘Hub’ that powers the active grid and communicates with the app. Water flows from the Hub into the Active Grid to help cool/heat the mattress.

In addition to the advanced sleep tracking and dual-zone cooling & heating features that are also available on The Pod, this layer allows for new enhancements in The Pod Pro including: room climate and weather response through new ambient sensors, daily health check and heart rate variability (HRV) monitoring, and their new Gentlerise™ wake up technology which uses vibrations in addition to cooling/warming the bed to help you wake up.
Layer 3: Five layers of premium foams make The Pod Pro 12” thick. These layers include an airflow top layer, a Supportive Air Technology™ layer, a responsive and cradling FlexSpring technology core, and a durable premium base that helps absorb movement while providing cradling support to the layers above.
