If you’re tired of cliched electric scooters that don’t have a base and are ready to upgrade, then a new startup based in Oakland, California may have just what you’re looking for. The Greek word for freshwater snake is Japanese, but it is now also a stylish electric scooter for the luxury group.
Electric scooters are fast becoming a comfortable and enjoyable way for commuters. But not everyone lives in a city with scooters without a clat and shebral like a bird and a lime. David Heyman, the former CEO of Beats Music and co-founder of emerging music company MOG, says he was the inspiration for Unagi’s launch after scooter-sharing services received a “drag” of sorts. Heyman said many scooters are down, and when you need them the most, it can be difficult to find them.
“The real breaking point was a year ago when he took to Whole Foods to buy groceries and set out in search of someone,” he wrote in an email. “I bought just $ 7 of Jenny’s ice cream and it was 75 degrees outside. I walked to the nearest motorbikes based on my app which they show me on a map, and when I was close (1 / 4-1 / 2 mi ) Was on a distance, so someone jumped and ride. I came home with melted ice cream and decided at that time, I should have one. “
The scooter company was first introduced in China as the Swan, as it was named Unagi for release in the US. Heyman traveled to China, where he visited various scooter factories and was most impressed by the Qingmai team working on Hans. He persuaded the company’s three industrial designers to make Unagi with the aim of launching scooters in the United States. “We took six months to improve the old design,” he said. “New engines, new braking mechanisms, new lighting, new displays, and most importantly, the bulletproof drone has been rebuilt from the world’s ground-up console.”
Hyman said, “Hans was 1.0, Unagi was 2.0, and moving forward is Unagi everything.” The company launched its Kickstarter last week, and it has already reached its goal of raising more than $ 100,000. Heyman said he hopes to start shipping the scooter in January.
