BECAUSE of work or traffic jams, sometimes we have to refrain from urinating. Although this condition can be said to be normal, we should not always hold back to urine because it can cause some health problems.
A healthy bladder can hold 400-500 milliliters of urine or about two glasses of water before reaching maximum levels.
Here are some risks if we urinate too often.
- The urinary incontinence
It is important for us to understand that if we do not urinate regularly, the bladder can experience a condition called atrophy or become weak.
As a result, we may experience urinary incontinence that causes unintentional urine leakage.
- The urinary tract infections
Frequent urination can cause bladder infections because bacteria can grow well. The risk of infection is also quite high if we drink less white water.
If we are prone to urinary incontinence, it is best to recognize the signs and symptoms of bladder infection;
- Sharp burning sensation when urinating
- Urine is colorless or bloody
- Pain in the lower abdomen
- Urine stinks
- The urine stretches
The habit of holding back urine for a long time can cause the bladder to stretch.
If that happens, we may have difficulty urinating and always want to urinate.
This condition can also cause urinary incontinence.
- The urine is left in the bladder
The habit of holding back urine can also cause urine to not come out properly due to blockage of the urinary tract through the bladder and urethra.
The frequency of urination is actually different for each individual but four to 10 times a day is normal.
