The increased number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia makes many people felt anxious and worried.
But have you ever imagined if your loved one or close friend contracted with this dangerous virus?
So, these five steps that can help you to deal with the situation :
- Prepare yourself
It is difficult to expect ourselves to survive an epidemic and self-preparation needs to be made to cope with an alarming situation.
The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also recommends that each of us always is prepared not to panic if a family member or close friend is infected with Covid-19.
This includes following all the recommendations issued such as maintaining personal hygiene to avoid germs.
Wash your hands with soap, avoid touching your face with dirty hands, and keeping a distance is important to reduce the potential for exposure to the virus. Most importantly, use a face mask every time you go out.
- Complete the requirements
If there is someone closest to you who is positive for Covid-19 or needs to undergo quarantine, ask if he or she needs help because at this stage the patient cannot think of anything other than his health.
Among the needs that can help them include;
- Thermometer to monitor body temperature other than cleaning agents, isopropyl alcohol.
- Paracetamol such as acetaminophen.
- Gloves and face masks.
- Soap and hand sanitizer.
- Enough tissue to use when coughing and sneezing.
- Other cleaning tools such as kitchen gloves, plastic waste, and so on.
- Quarantine
If you have been in direct contact or live in direct contact with a Covid-19 patient, immediately quarantine yourself.
Make sure you use separate rooms and toilets but this is difficult especially if you have many family members in the same house with limited space.
If left alone, the quarantine process is not too difficult but we need to make sure to manage ourselves wisely so that problems don’t arise.
- Maintain cleanliness
If you are sick, be sure to wear a mask when around other people and even encourage family members to do the same even when you are at home.
When sick (even though it’s not Covid-19) make sure to always maintain cleanliness and wash your hands often and don’t share food or dishes with other family members.
If any family members are quarantined, make sure to wear gloves when washing the dishes and cups they use and soak them in hot water.
It is preferable to have alcohol-based detergents available. Separate their clothes before washing and it is best to soak them separately in the hot water mixture.
- Maintain health
If the patient is a family member, make sure you and others around you are in good health.
Make sure no one leaves the house because it is to reduce the risk of transmission to others if some are positive without realizing it because some do not show symptoms.
To reduce the spread of the virus in your own home, ensure good air circulation by opening windows and doors.
Maintain cleanliness and take medication if necessary in addition to exercising and getting enough sleep.
