A woman named Emma O’Donnell posting footage of her breastfeeding her five-month-old baby, and now she has banned from TikTok, the video-sharing app.
The 33 years woman from Glasgow, says her feeding son removed one hour after it was uploaded. TikTok gives information as an indecent act had been committed.
She had ‘breached community guidelines’, and putting breastfeeding in the same category as sexual indecency, terrorism, violence and child abuse.
The woman who also work as a blogger, who has 37,000 followers on her Instagram page, has accused TikTok of ‘shaming mothers’ and ‘objectifying’ women.
Last week ago, she to post a video showing how to breastfeed discreetly for those who don’t feel at ease doing it in public.
In the footage, she can be seen breastfeeding her son named Harry, before throwing a sheet over her shoulder to shield any exposed flesh.
Then, she demonstrates how to unclip clothes so babies can easily feed.
Emma revealed that her breasts cannot be seen at any point of the video, but she receive a notification saying it had been ‘removed for violating community guidelines’.
And as result, she had been banned from posting for two days. Emma appealed the ban – but TikTok ‘reviewed’ the content and returned with the same conclusion.
Emma has now started a Change.org petition to normalise breastfeeding. And she also vowed to continue posting online to support other mums during the pandemic.
