In a tragic incident, a pilot has been killed after aircraft crashed in the Lake District hills on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 11, 2020.
From the investigation of emergency services known that the aircraft crashed in the hills north of Troutbeck, between Keswick and Penrith, in Cumbria, at around 2.50pm.
As cited News24xx.com from the Cumbria Police reported, the pilot of the aircraft was pronounced dead at the scene and he was the sole person onboard the aircraft.
The report stated that there were no other casualties involved in the crash. Cumbria Police said a cordon has been put in place around the site of the tragedy.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch statement said, “Responded following a report at about 2.50pm today (October 11) that a light aircraft had crashed north of Troutbeck, between Keswick and Penrith. Emergency services including police comes to the scene. The single occupant of the aircraft, a man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
As information, Troutbeck is a village in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, and is located three miles north of Windermere town.
No other details about the identity of the pilot or the circumstances of the crash have been released. And it’s unknown what the make and model of the crashed light aircraft was.
