In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old girl has died after her adoptive parents allegedly made her starved, and police said it’s looked like a “Holocaust victim”.
The poor girl named Josie Ann Abney, only have weighed about 38lbs, it’s half what a child of her age should weigh.
And her conditions were so emaciated and dehydrated. And also the blood sugar of Josie’s registered at just 10, a normal range for children is between 80 and 180 mg/dL.
As a result, the emergency room doctors were unable to draw blood from her.
As cited News24xx.com from the Stanford Children’s Health, the doctors thought she did not have diabetes or any other health conditions.
But, sadly, Josie died less than an hour after she was rushed to Salem Memorial District Hospital on October 3, 2020.
Her adoptive parents named Randall Lee Abney, 51, and Susan Abney, 44, from Salem, had adopted Josie at the age of three in 2013.
Abney called 911 shortly before 6.30 pm and saying Josie had collapsed as the family was about to have dinner and was unresponsive.
Police who were called to the home claimed Josie looked almost skeletal, had bruises on both of her temples, on her chest, arms and hands, and had a wound on the bridge of her nose.
