Brazil stands in third place for the highest Covid-19 cases in the world after the cases reach more than 5 million cases.
With this severity, the whole government should pool their resources and solve their country’s crisis but a Brazilian lawmaker, Chico Rodrigues, was forced to resign from the Senate.
It happened after the police found cash hidden in his underwear during a raid.
As cited News24xx.com from AA, the raid was carried out following allegations of misappropriation of R$20 million reais of public funds to fight the coronavirus. But R$30,000 (about RM20,7000) were found inside the congressman’s house and the rest of the money was found tucked into his underwear.
The act that did by Rodrigues showed how embarrassing this was. But he said that he has no involvement with corruption and decided to prove it.
“I believe in justice and I will prove that I have nothing to do with any illicit act.”
As information, Rodrigues represents the state of Roraima in the Senate and has been chosen as deputy leader of Brazilian President, President Jair Bolsonaro’s administration.
