The Chairman of People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic Indonesia, Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) said that a number of local governments had drawn up strategies to prevent a spike in Covid-19 cases during this week’s long holiday.
For example, by limiting the number of tourists, increasing the health protocol patrols, and conducting the Covid-19 tests on visitors.
Bamsoet also appreciates the regional government’s steps and hopes the local government efforts can effectively prevent the overcrowding at each tourist spot in each region, during this long holiday.
“As well as preventing the uncontrolled spread of Covid-19 in tourist attractions, given the uncontrolled arrival of tourists from outside the region will increase the Covid-19 cases,” said Bamsoet.
He also urged the regional government to cooperate with security officers at tourist attractions to curb the tourists or visitors to comply with existing policies, such as implementing health protocols with 3M, namely the obligation to wear masks, maintain their distance, and wash hands.
“By implementing a health protocol to preventing Covid-19 and physical distancing in every area of tourist attractions, it can be an effort to prevent the occurrence of new clusters of Covid-19 that spreading from tourist attractions,” he said.
He also encourages the regional governments to ask tourism place entrepreneurs to ensure the number of visitors is limited to a maximum of 50 percent according to the large-scale social restrictions pre-adaptation of new habits.
And he also appealed to every tourist/visitor to comply with existing rules or policies, especially in implementing 3M.
As information, the Government has set collective leave starts on October 28 and 30, as the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad SAW which fell on 29 October. The collective leave policy is regulated in Presidential Decree Number 17 of 2020.
It means that the workers get five days of collective leave when combined with Saturdays and Sundays.
