Riau Governor, Syamsuar inaugurated 11 Electric Villages in the framework of National Electricity Day, five of the 11 villages are in Indragiri Hilir (Inhil).
The Regent of Inhil, HM Wardan, who attended the inauguration virtually explained that the five villages were spread over two different sub-districts, namely Kuala Sungai Batang Village, Sungai Batang District, Batang Tumu Village, Sepakat Jaya, Bantayan, and Aceh Bakau Mandah District.
“For information, the prospective customers from the five villages that were inaugurated in Inhil were 1000 customers from 12 transformers. With the inauguration of the electrified villages, the electrification ratio in Inhil has increased to 94 percent,” said the Regent.
According to the Regent of Inhil, HM Wardan, the inauguration of a number of villages at that time was part of the Electric Village and Riau Terang Bederang program at the end of 2020.
The Regent said that the target through this program, one of which was the electrification ratio of Inhil Regency, reached 100 percent.
“This is certainly the thing that our people have been waiting for and hope for, namely electricity. Alhamdulillah, it has been flowing,” said the Regent after a video conference at the Inhil District Office of Communication and Information, Tembilahan.
The Regent said that the flow of electricity entering rural areas will be very useful in supporting the economy, starting from encouraging home industries to developing coconut derivative products as a regional mainstay commodity.
“Apart from that, in the education sector, this program will also support the improvement of human resources, make it easier for our children to learn and accelerate the learning process in educational units. It is difficult if there is no electricity, we still use lamps,” the Regent concluded.
To date, the number of electrified villages in Inhil Regency is 233 out of a total of 236 villages and wards in Inhil Regency.
There are 3 villages that still do not have electricity, namely Pelanduk Village, Mandah District, Soraya Mandiri Village, Mandah District, and Sakarotan Village, Teluk Belengkong District.
