Inspector General Nana Sudjana was removed from the position as Head of the Provincial Police (Kapolda) of Metro Jaya, after not carrying out the orders to enforce health protocols related to the prevention of Covid-19.
When appointed as Kapolda Metro in December 2019, Nana Sudjana has drawn criticism.

Nana graduated from the Police Academy (Akpol) in 1988. She served as the Head of Solo Police in 2010 when Joko Widodo was still Mayor of Solo.
In the course of his career, Nana was often placed in the intelligence department. He was once the Political Director of the Police Defense and Security Services. Nana also served as the East Java Regional Police Officer in 2014.
Before becoming Kapolda Metro Jaya, Nana had been the leader of three other regional police. In 2015, he served as Deputy Chief of the Jambi Police. A year later, he became Deputy Chief of Police of West Java.
In May 2019 Nana was appointed as Kapolda West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). In less than a year, he was drawn to the capital to serve as Kapolda Metro Jaya.
When he was first appointed as Kapolda Metro Jaya, one of his promises was to oversee the case of the former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan.
However, there are still many parties who are not satisfied with the disclosure of the case that ensnared the police officer. In less than a year, Nana was later shifted from his role in the capital.
The fast pace of Nana’s career has raised questions from civil society groups.
The chairperson of the Indonesian Police Watch (IPW) Presidium, Neta S Pane, said that Nana’s appointment as Kapolda Metro Jaya was inseparable from his close relationship with Jokowi.
“Nana’s achievements are relatively ordinary and nothing stands out,” said Neta, 21 December 2019.
“Appearing Nana as Kapolda Metro shows that Jokowi wants to show the ‘Solo gang’ in the Police,” added Neta.
The Palace responded to Neta’s accusation.
Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said the appointment of a person to a certain position must pass an assessment. Besides that, it also looks at the achievements and backgrounds concerned.
Today, Inspector General Nana Sudjana is officially removed from his post as Kapolda Metro Jaya. Apart from Nana, there is the name of Inspector General Sufahriadi who was removed from the position of Kapolda West Java. Both were considered negligent in enforcing health protocols.
The National Police did not specify the violation cases that resulted in their dismissal. However, as is known, the activities of Rizieq Shihab in the past week have drawn pros and cons because they invited large crowds during the pandemic.
Nana’s position at Polda Metro Jaya was replaced by Inspector General Fadil Imran, who previously served as Head of East Java Police.
