Indonesia has reported the daily record number of cases a few days ago, but the crowds on Bali’s beaches over the weekend might convince you that COVID-19 in this part of the world is well under control.
A number of videos that were taken yesterday evolve on social media, showing many people on the beaches of Sanur and Seminyak.
It seems that some people wear masks, though it’s hard not to pay attention to those who don’t care or don’t use them properly.
Another video shows a group of people waiting to take a bath at Tirta Empul Temple in the Gianyar regency.
On November 13, the Southeast Asian country reported the highest daily count so far of 5,444 cases, followed by the second-highest number of 5,272 on the following day.
Indonesia’s COVID-19 Task Force said it was their concern that a surge daily count happens because of a long five-day holiday at the end of October, prompting them to consider canceling year-end joint leave day.
Meanwhile, the official number from Bali until yesterday afternoon was 12,691 cases, including 404 deaths. The province has not reported a spike in cases after a long weekend in October.
