HONG Kong and Singapore will form an ‘air travel bubble’ at the end of this month and allowing tourists from the two countries to travel without undergoing quarantine.
The move which is expected to begin on November 22, 2020, is the first step in an effort to stimulate tourism when the world is hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The AP reports that travelers from either country must undergo testing before their flight, upon arrival, and before returning to prove they have not been exposed to the coronavirus.
Tourists also need to take a special flight that will only carry 200 passengers.
At the start of planning, one flight per day was proposed but added to two trips after 7 December 2020.
However, the system would immediately be put on hold for two weeks if Hong Kong or Singapore had five undetectable Covid-19 cases within seven days.
Currently, Hong Kong has recorded 5,408 cases of Covid-19 with 108 deaths and 5,159 of them have recovered.
Singapore also recorded 58,091 cases with 28 deaths and 57,990 recoveries.
