The National Food and Drug Agency (BPOM) of Indragiri Hilir (Inhil) destroyed illegal food and drugs worth IDR 454 million on Thursday, November 19, 2020.
The destroyed evidence was the criminal acts and the results from control of 15,023 types of illegal pharmaceutical and food products.
The destroyed products contained:
- 6,113 types of food products
- 4,950 medicinal products
- 1,997 types of traditional medicinal products
- 1,963 types of cosmetic products.
The Head of the BPOM Inhil, Ayi Mahfud Sidiq explained, from 2018 to 2020, BPOM has controled drug and food in Indagiri Hilir Regency and Indragiri Hulu (Inhu) Regency was synergizing with cross-sectors, both the Police, the Attorney General’s Office, the Health Service, the Trade and Industry Service and other agencies related with government.
“Currently this was the second extermination in a period year, yesterday it was held on February 17, 2020, with a value approximately IDR 1 billion from the results of control during period 2018 to 2019. “
“And currently during control from January to November 2020, the National Food and Drug Agency of Indragiri Hilir had inspection and enforcement has secured the items with a finding value of IDR 454 million,” he explained.
Until now, Ayi stated that his party still committed to protecting the public from the dangers of drugs and food that are risky to health.
“We hope that the existence of the National Food and Drug Agency of Indragiri Hilir can be felt by the public, business actors and local governments.”
