According to a report released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings: Asia 2021 on November 25, UM is ranked ninth compared to ranking 13th in last year’s ranking.
And nine local universities that consisting of six state universities and three private domestic universities are also included in the 110 best universities in Asia.
Among them are :
Universiti Putra Malaysia (28th),
Universiti Sains Malaysia (34th),
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (35th),
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (39th),
PETRONAS University of Technology (70th),
Taylor’s University (89th),
UCSI University (105th),
Universiti Utara Malaysia (107th),
MARA University of Technology (108th).
According to the Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, this year is half of the implementation of the Malaysia Education Development Plan 2015-2025 (Higher Education) and has shown an increase in the quality and excellence of local universities in a short time.
“This success will also indirectly position Malaysia as a hub for higher education in the Asian region and can also assist institutions in collaborating with world-leading researchers,” he said in his statement today.
