In 2020, the ongoing farmers’ protests become the biggest of its kind India has seen in recent years and the demonstrators are only likely to step up the ante.
Since Friday evening, they have been allowed to enter Delhi, and have been permitted to hold peaceful protests at Nirankari ground in Burari.
All through their journey, a large contingent of police was deployed, who used everything that they could to block the march to Delhi.
At several places, the cops used force – water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters.
However, the protesters have largely maintained peace and some of their gestures are winning hearts.
Several videos have been posted online showing the protesters serving food and water to the cops.
In one such video that is going viral, a farmer is seen offering and feeding drinking water to a policeman.
There is also another video in which cops are seen seated in a line on a roadside, where the protesters are serving food.
The farmers say they are ready to protest as long as it takes to get the government to reverse its decision on the newly enacted farm laws.
They said they have come prepared with food rations for six months.
Farmers who cooked rotis and sabzi in large amounts for the group and said that anyone who was hungry was free to come.
