The country’s cuisine has become a culture along with the popularity of K-Pop dramas and music that characterize the country around the world.
Here are seven foods that are often included in Korean drama scenes;
- Ramyeon
Ramyeon is one of the foods that are quite popular in Korean dramas such as My Love From the Star to Reply 1988. This instant noodle is the choice of Korean people when the meal runs out.
Just like in Malaysia, instant noodles are common in society and that is why we can easily accept Ramyeon culture.
In fact, there are now many restaurants that sell Ramyeon in a variety of ways – best when added to kimchi and eggs. - Corn dogs
Remember the Start-Up drama? Maybe that’s why the corn dog became popular when it was featured in one of the important scenes between Nam Do-san and Han Ji-pyeong.
Fortunately, many have started selling corn dogs with a wide variety and cater to local tastes. - Tteokbokki
Tteokbokki is one of the foods that are quite synonymous with Korean society after kimchi besides that it is very popular among the people there.
Tteokbokki is actually a rice cake served with spicy sauce in addition to a mixture of vegetables and fish cakes. It’s also often used as a side dish when enjoying Ramyeon. - Jjajangmyeon
Jjajangmyeon has also appeared in many Korean dramas. Jjangmyeon is Korean-Chinese fusion food that uses noodles and black bean sauce. The mixture of vegetables, onions, and meat complement the taste. - Sundubu-jjigae
Sundubu-jjigae became more popular after being featured in the drama Itaewon Class. This is a soup made from fish fillets, carrots, seaweed, kimchi, and soft tofu. - Korean fried chicken
Korean fried chicken is flour fried chicken served with several types of chili sauce. This fried chicken is often served in dramas when friends are chatting at home or on a picnic.
Because it is quite popular, we no longer need to go to Korea to enjoy fried chicken because various restaurants in Malaysia also come with the same concept. - Jjapaguri
This menu has appeared in the popular Korean film, Parasite. Jjapaguri itself is a dish that uses ramen and is added with meat steak. This food, which is similar to fried meat noodles, is also known as ram-don.
