Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Choirul Anam said that his party had formed a team to investigate the case of police clashes with FPI sympathizers that occurred on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road, Monday (7/12/2020).
This team formed to explore various information that viral in public.
The reason is different information between the police and the FPI regarding the incident that occurred on that Monday morning.
“Through monitoring and investigation, a team has been established. It is currently exploring information to deepen various information that viral in public,” said Anam in his written statement, Monday (7/12/2020).
Anam said that Komnas HAM was collecting facts from various parties who were directly involved.
Therefore, he asked both the police and the FPI to cooperate and provide an open statement.
“To strengthen the disclosure of events that occurred, we hope that all parties will cooperate and be open. We also convey this hope to the police,” he said.
The various statements that have collect will be explored by the Komnas HAM team.
“On this initial process, the team has received some directives and is deepening it,” said Anam.
Previously it was reported the police shot six of ten people who were said sympathizers of FPI at Kilometer 50 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on Monday morning.
The Police Chief of Jakarta, Inspector General Fadil Imran, said the shooting of the six people occurred because they were suspected of assaulting their ranks while carrying out investigations into the Rizieq case.
According to Fadil, three real firearms bullets were utilized to attack the police.
“Members who were threatened with their safety because of being attacked, then took firm and measured action against the group suspected of being MRS followers, and as many as six people died,” said Fadil in a press conference.
However, the Secretary of FPI Munarman denied that Rizieq’s guards had attacked the police first.
Munarman regretted the police’s admission that six of Rizieq’s bodyguards were shot dead for the attack.
“Not true. The FPI Laskar never owned firearms. Of course, there must be legal accountability from the party who committed the murder,” said Munarman, emphasizing.
