The Police of Indonesia plans to investigate the families of the six members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) who were shot dead by police during a clash on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road.
The six members of Laskar who were guarding FPI leader, Rizieq Shihab, were shot for allegedly attacking members of Polda Metro Jaya in an incident that occurred on Monday (7/12/2020) in the morning.
“The plan examined on Monday (14 December 2020) at the Bareskrim Building,” said the Director of General Crimes for Criminal Investigation of the National Police Brigadier General (Pol) Andi Rian R Djajadi, Friday (11/12/2020).
Andi said investigators would send a summons for examination today.
“Today’s investigators will send a summons to the family of six MRS guards who attacked Polri members,” said Andi. Previously the case was handled by Polda Metro Jaya and is now taken over by the Police Headquarters.
One of the reasons is the location of the incident in Karawang, West Java. The interim findings of the investigators include the presence of firearms and sharp weapons at the scene, damage to the officer’s car, and evidence of the use of firearms by members of Rizieq’s escort.
Bareskrim promised to make professional and objective investigations, to provide opportunities for external parties to give advice.
Regarding this clash, there are differences in information between the police and FPI. The police said that the car of a member of the Polda Metro Jaya who was doing tailing stopped by the vehicle carrying the guard of FPI leader Rizieq Shihab.
The tailing was conducted to investigate the information in the short message application about mass mobilization to guard Rizieq’s examination on Monday (7/12/2020).
After the vehicles of police stopped, a shootout occurred. The police claimed that members of Rizieq’s bodyguard opened the first shootout. FPI also denied that members attacked and shot the polices first. According to FPI, members of the Laskar are not equipped with firearms.
