The Head of Pari Island, Mahtum, said that company officials had seen the area affected by the oil spill.
Mahtum stated that the waste pollution was almost the same as the case at the end of 2019.
At that time, several islands in the Thousand Islands were affected by a crude oil spill from drilling in waters north of Karawang.
“At the end of last year, Pari Island and Lancang Island were also hit by an oil spill,” said Mahtum.
As of Tuesday evening, 280 bags of oil spilled waste had been collected.
The waste is put into plastic bags with a capacity of about 5 kilograms per bag.
